Investigation into the effects of fillers in polymer processing

The addition of fillers has become a common method improving the performance composites. Therefore, many types are commercially available while several other being investigated. understanding effect additives on processing and product quality is crucial for manufacturing products economically with desired qualities. This study focuses investigating possible effects graphene fumed silica nanoparticle polymer properties. Three polymeric materials were processed these two via Mini-Lab twin screw extruder to obtain better dispersion, then properties samples produced explored number different testing techniques (e.g., tensile testing, SEM, DSC rheometer). Young's modulus amorphous was strongly affected by filler content, crystalline not that sensitive content/level. polystyrene-based nanocomposites (PNCs) 8 wt% at 200 °C 50 rpm found be approximately 1786 MPa. Also, as clearly recognized SEM images one glass transition temperature (Tg) value rather than Tg values, it can ensured particles finely dispersed within PNCs regardless type/content. And then, rheological results further confirmed content set conditions, mainly dependent matrix have slightly influenced degree dispersion. Moreover, energy demand also during all experimental trials comparison indicated consumption increased but magnitude increase type.
